SOILWORK returns with their twelfth studio album, which represents the band in their growth and current phase of life, marked by a period that no one on this planet will quickly forget.

Unlike their previous albums, the creation process of 'Övergivenheten' was very lengthy and reflects the emotional state of the SOILWORK guys. Recorded at Nordic Sound Lab in Skara, Sweden, once again with producer Thomas 'Plec' Johansson, who also produced the last two projects, the album was written and recorded in three sessions between January and December 2021. There was no rush to finish the album, which, on the other hand, allowed the band to reflect on their music and enjoy the album's creation process.

Musically, 'Övergivenheten' continues the SOILWORK legacy of recent years. The approach was to make the album sound as organic as possible. Among other things, acoustic elements were incorporated into the songs to contribute to creating a sound experience that feels as close and authentic as possible. The album is meant to convey the feeling of being in the midst of the action, generating energy, and sensing the atmosphere. To create this experience and, above all, to give the listener the feeling of being in the band's creative environment, balance was required, which was made difficult by the external circumstances, particularly the current world situation.
