SOILWORK returns with their twelfth studio album, representing the band's growth and current phase of life, marked by a period that no one on this planet will quickly forget.

In contrast to their previous albums, the creation process of 'Övergivenheten' was very lengthy and reflected the emotional state of the SOILWORK guys. Recorded at Nordic Sound Lab in Skara, Sweden, once again with producer Thomas 'Plec' Johansson, who also produced their last two projects, the album was written and recorded in three sessions between January and December 2021. There was no rush to complete the album, which, on the other hand, allowed the band to reflect on their music and enjoy the album's creation process. Musically, Övergivenheten continues the SOILWORK legacy of recent years. The approach was to make the album sound as organic as possible. Among other things, acoustic elements were incorporated into the songs to contribute to a sound experience that is as close and real as possible. The album aims to convey the feeling of being in the middle of the action, generating energy, and sensing the atmosphere. To create this experience, and above all, to make the listener feel like they are in the band's creative environment, balance was required, which was made difficult by external circumstances, especially the current world situation.
