"Memento" was released on October, 28, 2016.The new album created by the Böhse Onkelz, and the first after 10 years of abstinence. Just a few years ago, the Onkelz were buried, but now, they are alive - big time! These days, in the autumn of 2016, they are free, aggressive, and headstrong - more than ever before! Even the cover artwork of "Memento" proves that the Onkelz still feel bonded with themselves and their fans. They remember all the good and bad things, and have gotten tattoos of their memoirs on their skin, together with thousands of their followers... And that is another meaning of "Memento" for the band and their nephews and nieces. Never before was an Onkelz album conceived more at eye level, more democratic. Ideas of all four Onkelz have flown into the 12 tracks that are sometimes angry, or even angrier, sometimes autobiographic, sometimes pathetic, and sometimes calm. An extremely explosive and fresh combination neither shying away from the big issues of living together ("Markt und Moral"), ("Frei"), nor from the personal demons of the respective personalities in an epic way ("Nach allen Regeln der Sucht", "Der Junge mit dem Schwefelholz"). Of course, there's no lack of pathos, too. You have to celebrate life - and why not? ("Jeder kriegt was er verdient"), ("Gott hat ein Problem"). Recorded in Dublin, on Ibiza, and in Nashville, Tennessee, Memento is the Onkelz opus which almost wouldn't have seen the light of day if the circumstances had been more adverse. After listening to the album, you'll be happy that the band is finally back in full strength, as a union. United with their fans in a Memento momentum - and a visible one, too. Several thousand Onkelz tattoos on thousands of fans were the basis for the artwork of Memento - they were the best possible fundament for it.
