A quasi 15 anni di distanza dalla struggente e toccante performance dei Nirvana a "MTV Unplugged" esce il DVD "MTV Unplugged In New York" (Geffen / MTV Networks / Ume) che raccoglie il concerto completo per un totale di 66 minuti totali e i due inediti, tagliati per la messa in onda, "Something In The Way" e "Oh Me". Il DVD contiene anche 5 registrazioni inediti delle prove, interviste alla band e al pubblico.
Il 18 settembre 1993 venne filmato ai Sony Music Studios, uno spettacolo che venne poi messo in onda per la prima volta il 14 dicembre 1993, quattro mesi prima della tragica scomparsa di Kurt Cobain. Il DVD "MTV Unplugged In New York" è ora disponibile in formato Dolby Stereo e audio surround 5.1 e raccoglie sia la versione del concerto andata in onda su MTV sia quella completa. Quando "MTV Unplugged In New York" uscì su CD nel novembre del 1994, atterrò direttamente alla posizione n.1 della
classifica Billboard vincendo il Grammy Award per Best Alternative Music Album e conseguendo il disco di platino due anni dopo.
Il DVD è stato integrato con "Bare Witness", le interviste con la band, lo staff di MTV ed il pubblico. Tra il materiale bonus spiccano le versioni di "Come As You Are", "Polly", "Plateau", "Pennyroyal Tea" e "The Man Who Sold the World".
