Johnny Cash conquista il suo posto di nicchia nel mondo della musica. L’idolo dello stile country riesce con la sua musica ad attraversare i confini di tutti i generi. I suoi successi nel rockabilly, nel rock ‘n’ roll e nel gospel lo hanno piazzato nella Hall of Fame. E’ stato uno degli artisti, insieme a Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins e Jerry Lee, a raggiungere la fama con la casa discografica “Sun” fondata da Sam Phillips. Con i suoi singoli “I WALK the LINE”, “FOLSOM PRISON BLUES”, “BALLAD of a TEENAGE QUEEN”, “GET RHYTHM” e “DON’T TAKE YOUR GUNS to TOWN” è entrato in più di 40 classifiche del genere pop e country, prima con la “Sun” e in seguito con la “Columbia”. Grazie a queste canzoni è diventato famoso, nonché il miglior artista country. Le 81 tracce dell’edizione da collezione “The complete Sun Releases and Columbia Singles ’55-66” fanno onore alla sua carriera, che non è stata scolpita solo dalla sua musica, ma anche da ruoli cinematografici e comparse in TV.
