La band è tornata nel 1997 con 'Album Of The Year', che è stato registrato con la formazione attuale: Mike Bordin (batteria), Roddy Bottum (tastiere), Billy Gould (basso), Jon Hudson (chitarra) e Mike Patton (voce). Il capolavoro è stato principalmente creato nello studio casalingo di Gould e ha prodotto tre singoli di successo: 'Ashes to Ashes', 'Last Cup Of Sorrow' e 'Stripsearch'. Bottum ha scritto nelle note di copertina: 'Siamo sicuramente tornati alle nostre radici musicali e abbiamo preferito toni più scuri come per 'Angel Dust '. In retrospettiva sembra davvero un capitolo produttivo per quello che praticamente volevamo fare '.
Le otto tracce bonus includono registrazioni dal vivo di brani dell'album come 'Collision' e il classico di Burt Bacharach/Hal David 'This Guy’s In Love With You', così come rari mix di 'Last Cup Of Sorrow', 'Pristina' e molti altri.
