The title of SATURNUS' fifth Album, 'The Storm Within', refers to both the storms raging in nature and the turmoil within the soul. It is quite evident that the long time it took for the Danes to create this Album, as well as the personal reasons behind the changes within the band, greatly inspired its artistic expression. SATURNUS has surpassed themselves with 'The Storm Within'. The musical themes of the sea, rain, and stormy waters run through the songs like a common thread, reflecting anger, loss, melancholy, and pain equally. The craftsmanship of the Album gives its sublime but also calm moments, as well as occasional brutal outbursts, an extremely exciting dynamic. Furthermore, the renewed collaboration with producer Flemming Rasmussen, the legendary Danish producer of Metallica classics, ensures that the sound of 'The Storm Within' does justice to its outstanding musical quality. SATURNUS' roots trace back to 1991 when vocalist Thomas A.G. Jensen was searching for fellow musicians in the vicinity of the Danish capital, Copenhagen, to form a death metal band. After several name and lineup changes, SATURNUS was finally established in 1993. The band released their first Album, 'Paradise Belongs to You', in January 1997 and immediately received an invitation to the famous Roskilde Festival. The performance was recorded by Norwegian Radio (NRK) and broadcasted throughout Scandinavia, quickly establishing the band as a brand in the field of death doom in Northern Europe. After their second Album, 'Martyre' (2000), and the iconic third studio Album, 'Veronika Decides to Die', as well as constant Touring throughout Europe and increasingly beyond, 'Saturn in Ascension' was released in 2012, once again produced by Flemming Rasmussen. To celebrate their 20th anniversary, SATURNUS returned to the roads of Europe and performed at renowned festivals such as Brutal Assault (CZ), Copenhell (DK), and ArtMania (RO), among others. From 2014 to 2017, the Danes Toured with occasional breaks, taking them to Russia and the Middle East. After some significant lineup changes, guitarists Indee (formerly of CLOUDS and EYE OF SOLITUDE) and Julio from AUTUMNAL joined SATURNUS in 2020. Despite further obstacles caused by the pandemic, the band finally began working on their next Album, continuing their collaboration with Flemming Rasmussen. The lengthy and difficult creation of 'The Storm Within' demanded painful sacrifices from SATURNUS along the way. Blood, pain, and sweat have left their marks on this Album. But from every note, a brutal honesty speaks. SATURNUS reveals their soul, and that is what makes 'The Storm Within' a brilliant piece of music.
